COVID Crisis Creates Opportunities to Share Christ
India is home to the largest pandemic lockdown in the world! The situation has become even more dire as people face starvation, public beating, and the fear of the the COVID Virus in the world’s second most populated country.
In the midst of these traumatic realities, Call of Hope Frontline Workers in India are reaching out to the vast Islamic population with help and the love of Christ!
Stay home and starve or leave and get beaten.
This is the decision facing many families in India. Millions of migrant workers and day labourers are starving. People in the slums are forced stay in their settlements under threat of police violence. Those who dare to leave are brutally beaten with bamboo sticks. Nevertheless, many try to find “food” for themselves and their families in the garbage containers outside their slums. They are more afraid of starvation than Corona Virus!
When they venture out to find food, they are being beaten with sticks by the police. Despite the difficult situation in India, our local co-workers are still fully committed to sharing the Good News of Christ through word and deed! Even with the lockdown in place, our Frontline Workers have received special permission from the government to deliver food and essential items in slums and low-income areas.
It is not enough to simply share the good news of Jesus without also offering to help them in times of need. That is why Frontline Workers are providing care packages to meet their needs both spiritually and physically.
Each relief package contains:
A New Testament Bible in their own language
Call of Hope Christian Booklets (to answer common questions Muslims have about Christ)
Rice
Flour
Soybeans
Potatoes
Oil
Soap
Protective masks
As Frontline Workers distribute these care packages, they establish friendships with those in need. When asked why they are risking their own health to help a Muslim, our workers are quick to explain that the love of Christ compels them to serve and to be the hands and feet of Jesus! Our workers plan to visit and stay in contact through phone and text message with every family that has received a care package.
Although the world as a whole is in distress. We are grateful that we are able to help those in need. We believe that with your prayers and support, we can use time of crisis to help Muslims who otherwise would not be open to the Gospel. Please consider providing a care package to a destitute Muslim family in India. Your gift of $50 will meet the immediate physical needs of families on the brink of starvation while also opening the door to the Gospel message!
