Disaster Relief
The next catastrophe is sure to come
The two earthquakes that struck Nepal in April and May 2015 were the deadliest disasters in that country's history. According to government figures, approximately 9,000 people died as a result of the earthquake, which destroyed 600,000 homes nationwide. Thanks to our employees on site, we were able to organize quick help for those affected on site. When hundreds of thousands of people in northern Kenya were threatened with starvation in 2017 due to a persistent drought, Call of Hope transported tons of aid with food to the affected region.
We help quickly and efficiently on site
The question is not whether the next catastrophe will occur, but when. A great advantage for Call of Hope is that we have regional offices in many countries. This means our employees can quickly and easily provide assistance to those affected on site. For example, our relief teams were on site shortly after the devastating port explosion in Beirut, Lebanon in August 2020, and we were able to provide pastoral care and relief supplies to thousands of people in the weeks that followed. India, where numerous people are affected by tropical storms and floods every year during the monsoon season, is also another focus of our disaster relief efforts.
